About
Vista dall’alto ("view from above") collects geopolitical analysis built on satellite imagery, published — or publishable — in Italian outlets such as Linkiesta and Il Post, and archives it in a form that is navigable, lightweight, and built to outlast the news cycle.
Curated by Piero Boccardo, full professor of Geomatics at the Politecnico di Torino. The work collected here applies remote-sensing tools — optical and radar imagery, Copernicus data and the main commercial operators — to current-affairs questions: conflict, energy infrastructure, migration, climate crises, territorial control.
The satellite has no opinions: it measures. The purpose of this space is to bring that measurement to informed readers, newsrooms, researchers and public decision-makers, with the rigour data demands and the clarity that public communication requires.
